The Chef 

Birtley born, I left the town at 18 to work for Raymond Blanc at his prestigious 2 Michelin starred Le Manoir Aux Quat Saison in Oxfordshire, I spent the last 20 years working in award winning hotels and restaurants all over the uk.

After competing on master chef the professionals in 2022 I decided to open Aioli in my home town, Birtley.

The Food

Our a la carte menu is available lunch and dinner and changes seasonally.

Sunday lunches are the highlight of the week where we offer the most amazing Sunday lunch with all the trimmings family style with dishes like 6 hour sous vide cooked rump of beef changing it’s texture to as tender as fillet but retaining the pink colour as well as Roast Pork Belly Pot Feu – pork belly stuffed with apricot and sage stuffing, rolled, tied, braised slowly in stock and wine then roasted until crispy.
Side orders are in abundance with the addition of potato gratin alongside roast potatoes, carrot & swede crush, fine beans, honey roast carrots & parsnips, cauliflower cheese, lashings of gravy and Yorkshire puddings. vegetarian dishes will be given as much attention to detail as the meats to offer the best Sunday lunch we can possibly make. We limit our bookings to 60 people only for Sunday lunch to offer the best quality we can each week so it’s best to book in advance.

Tapas nights are selected Sunday evening with live music and Spanish playlists The tapas nights start at 18:00pm with live music from 19:00pm. Once booked the tables yours for the evening and Chris and the team will produce tapas between 18:30-20:00. You simply take the ones you fancy, ignore the ones you don’t and enjoy a relaxing night listening to live music in our beautiful restaurant.

The Restaurant

Aioli is a Mediterranean inspired restaurant serving simple food treating the ingredients with love, care and attention that you crave to come back for time and time again.

With a heavy Mediterranean influence in the decor and flavours of the food. We believe Aioli is the perfect place to take you on a culinary journey and bring the nostalgic feeling of being in the med. Classic French, modern British, rustic Italian and modern Spanish would be the best way to describe our menus.
